Aqualumina Workshop: Create Ceramic Waves for the Deep (11 Apr 2026)

Join ArtYard and Mudtown Ceramics for a hands-on workshop series where participants will create porcelain waves for The Deep, a participatory art installation at ArtYard as part of the lead-up to the Aqualumina Festival.

The Deep invites community members to build a shared ocean, one handcrafted wave at a time. Inspired by Bill Viola’s The Raft, the project explores how individual experiences can converge into a powerful, collective force. In Viola’s installation, strangers stand together in quiet isolation until walls of water crash into them, transforming them into a vulnerable, unified whole.

Mudtown Ceramics will host a series of workshops in which participants will shape waves that will become part of this growing ceramic sea. The completed work will be installed on a large table in ArtYard’s entrance gallery.

Workshops take place on Saturdays from February 28 through April 18 at 10:00 a.m. at Mudtown Ceramics, 782 Frenchtown Rd, Milford, NJ. No prior ceramics experience required. All materials provided. After the exhibition, participants will reclaim their individual waves to take home.

Registration is $35 per session. Early bird pricing of $30 is available through Feb. 22

Natural Pigment & Paint Workshop (12 Apr 2026)

Artist's and Artisans interested in making their own natural pigments and paints are invited to register for a workshop on April 12 at NewHopeMakersStudio.com. Tobi from PeriwinkleSkies.net will be teaching foraging and processing natural pigments; and making 1/2 palettes of watercolor, gouache and, if time allows, pastels. Participants can bring home the artist's materials they make and what they foraged. Materials for each stage of the process will be prepared ahead of time and handouts with recipes will be provided.

Power Tools for Women Workshop (13 Jun 2026)

Coyote Ridge Homestead presents a two hour workshop on June 13, where you will gain an introduction to the basic power tools for building projects in addition to safety principles, measuring/planning tools, and lots of hands-on experience.

Participants will leave with a notebook, Power Tools guide, and ideas for beginner projects.

Lindsay is passionate about empowering women especially, so this particular workshop is women-only. Thomas, her master carpenter husband, will join her to bring you a wealth of knowledge from the building industry.

*This workshop has a very low enrollment cap to ensure the most hands-on experience and intimate learning environment. Cost: $130
