The Short Fiction Book Club meets to discuss works of fiction under 200 pages long. It is led by Bookshop owner Barbara de Wilde, and meets in a cozy room at Frenchtown's FiNNBAR.
The short fiction for October is "So Long, See You Tomorrow," which won the National Book Award in 1982 and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Award for Fiction. The novel explores the impact of the death of a man named Lloyd Wilson in rural Illinois in the 1920s on two teenage boys. 50 years later, the now-grown men are drawn back together as they attempt to reconstruct the details of this trauma as they both remember it. Written in spellbinding prose, this little book deftly explores grief, innocence and the unreliability of memory.
Reservations are $14.45 and include the book, discounted by 15%.
