Opening Reception: Spring Exhibitions 2026

Join ArtYard on February 21 to celebrate the opening of our spring 2026 exhibitions — In the Company of Still Life and Lora Webb Nichols: Photographs Made, Photographs Collected. The evening also marks the opening of One Wicked Mime and Artificial Insurance, a paranoid normal triptych.

In the Company of Still Life explores the fascinating and complex relationships between objects and ourselves through still-life paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, photography, and found objects. Capturing the ordinary and extraordinary, in turns eternal and ephemeral, still lifes tell our stories by proxy while reflecting our very human desire to slow time. Work from over 40 artists is displayed in a series of distinct rooms, welcoming visitors into a space inspired by the specificity and intimacy of still life.

Lora Webb Nichols: Photographs Made, Photographs Collected brings together works by Lora Webb Nichols (1883-1962), who received her first camera in 1899 at the age of 16.  Lora Webb Nichols created and collected approximately 24,000 negatives over the course of her lifetime in the mining town of Encampment. The images chronicle the domestic, social, and economic aspects of the sparsely populated frontier of south-central Wyoming.
