Pencil Portraits Featuring Mike Tysinski

Think you can capture the joy of Michael "Mike" Tyksinski in a drawing?

Join us from 5 to 7 PM on Thursday, July 17 as Mike steps away from the counter at Frenchtown Home and Hardware and sits for portraits at Pencil Projects at ArtYard.

Mike is a Chicago native living in Frenchtown. He's organized Frenchtown Riverfest since 2013 and has served as downtown streetlights coordinator since 2014. His interests include kayaking on the Lenape Sippu (Delaware River), storytelling, reading, protesting, and walking around town as a Vulture looking for carcasses.

Mike has operated Frenchtown Home and Hardware (@frenchtownhomeandhardware) since 2013. The hardware store, which was established in 1884, is home to River Valley Artisans, showcasing creations made by more than 50 local artisans.

Each Thursday night from 5 to 7 PM, we invite a different local hero to sit for portraits by fellow community members. There is no teacher, no critique -- just the muffled scratching of pencils and the pleasure of company. Portraits will be exhibited during the project in the Stairwell Galleries.
