DEBBIE MILLMAN: “Love Letter To A Garden” April 14

  • 14 Apr 2025
  • Frenchtown Bookshop, 28 Bridge Street, Frenchtown, NJ

The wildly popular designer, educator, and podcaster Debbie Millman always longed for a garden. Her new book describes how her dream finally came true when she created the lush garden that she now shares with her wife, the essayist, author, and NY Times opinion writer Roxane Gay.

Debbie Millman is “one of the most influential designers working today” (Graphic Design USA). She spent twenty years as president of her renowned brand-design company Sterling Brands, has interviewed more than 500 of the world’s most creative people (including our Barbara de Wilde) on her podcast “Design Matters,” heads the Master of Arts in Branding program at the School of Visual Arts, and is the author of seven books.

You could, of course, buy a pricey New York City ticket to hear Debbie Millman speak. On April 17, Millman will launch “Love Letter to a Garden” at a gala celebration at Symphony Space, with two dozen special guests including Suleika Jaouad, NPR hosts Jad Abumrad (“RadioLab”) and Krista Tippett (“On Being”), and authors Sarah Polley and Maria Popova (“The Marginalian”). Tickets are $50, and she will not be signing.

Or, in the alternative, you can meet her in the intimate Frenchtown Bookshop and get a signed book, thanks to her decades-long friendship with Bookshop owner Barbara de Wilde.

This event is free and all are welcome. Readers who pre-purchase a copy of “Love Letter to a Garden” receive preferred seating and a signed original graphic print from the book.
